Gwatkin Rum Barrel Cider is a traditional-style cider aged in rum a rum barrel for a special full-bodied tipple combining the taste of sweet apple cider and dark spirit of rum. It's based on the old link between land and see, when farmers would trade their produce with sailors for recently emptied rum casks to fill with their freshly-pressed juice. This cider is made from traditional Dabinett cider apples from local, unsprayed orchards, sweetened with cane sugar.
Gwatkin Cider is based at Moorhampton Park Farm in Herefordshire's Golden Valley, where cider and perry have been made for centuries. The Gwatkins family pride themselves on making good quality, traditional, full-juice cider and perry, using 100% fresh fruit juice from local, unsprayed orchards, without any artificial additives.
The Gwatkin family have won a number of awards for their ciders and perries, including at Hereford's Beer on the Wye which, in the heart of apple country, boasts stiff competition of over 100 ciders and perries.
