The Hecks family have been making traditional farmhouse cider in Somerset for since 1841 and started selling cider from their farm shop in Street in 1896. The family put six generations of expertise to good use, producing a superb range of award-winning full-juice ciders and perries using natural methods and traditional techniques.
Hecks Farmhouse Cider gather their fruit locally from unsprayed orchards around Street and Glastonbury Tor, with the majority coming from their own orchards which are grazed by sheep to keep the grass short. At harvest-time, fruit is gathered and then pressed behind the farm shop, before being allows to ferment using natual wild yeasts and given plenty of time to mature in oak vats. When their cider and perry is ready, much of it is sold "from the wood" in the farm shop, with a steady stream of people visiting to refill containers while picking up other farm produce.
