Oliver's Fine Perry Out Of The Barrel Rooms Red Pear 2018 is a single variety, still dry perry that has been matured in an old Ornellia Wine Barrel to give layers of pear and citrus with depth. It has an almost sherry-like character, with a touch of oak and a light drying acidity. Red Pear is a traditional pear variety, mentioned in John Evelyn’s Pomona of 1662 and grown commercially in Herefordshire and Worcestershire for several hundred years.

The Barrel Room Series combines and explorers the fascination of single varieties with the interest in barrel aging. Red Pear Perry investigates if wine, wood and pears go well together and if it would garner a touch of colour. In particular, this release shows what happens in barrel over time as it was bottled some 7 months after the first Barrel Room Series Red Pear Perry - though it has the same label so you will only know if you drank the first one.
