Pilton Cider are renowned for producing high-quality, artisan keeved ciders. Based in Shepton Mallet in Somerset, they make use of late-season bittersharp and bittersweet cider apples from traditional West Country cider apple orchards. Once crushed and pressed, the juice is placed into tanks. The cidermaker, Martin Berkeley, then uses the age-old artisan method of keeving to encourage a slow fermentation process that finishes early, leaving residual sugars behind to provide a natural sweetness. As well as their keeved range, Martin also innovates using other fruits such as quince or cherry, and experiments with techniques such as cryo-concentration!
With a number of awards to their name, Pilton Cider are particularly proud of winning 3* Great Taste awards in 2014, 2015 and 2017 for their flagship keeved cider.
