Ross on Wye Harry Masters Jersey, Dabinett and Reinette d’Obry 2019 is a traditional style cider, memorable, full-flavoured and drinkable.
The three varieties in this cider were pressed and fermented individually, matured and then blended for bottling on a cold December morning. It begins with Harry Masters Jersey, a full and grippy bittersweet apple, making up 50% of the blend and providing a tannic base. Dabinett, fruit-forward and flavoursome, makes up a further 25%. Reinette d’Obry completes the story, a light, yellow, acidic variety that was fermented in oak helps to bring out the flavours. Together they produce a cider with balance, body and verve. There is bright juiciness that leads into a deliciously well-ordered symphony of tannins, fruit and oak cask.
The Johnson family has made craft cider and perry at Broome Farm in Herefordshire since the 1930s and have won a plethora of awards, including BBC Food and Farming Winner 2019.
