Ross on Wye Raison d’Être 2018 is the quintessential expression of what cidermaking means to Ross on Wye. This 8.4% ABV cider is bone dry, fermented using wild yeast in an oak cask and patiently aged before bottle conditioning. 2018 was an exceptional year for cidermaking. The hot summer meant that sugars, alcohol, and flavour intensity sky-rocketed, making this an exquisite vintage. The Raison d’Être is a blend of Dabinett and Michelin - two bittersweet varieties that are grown on Broome Farm and have a deeply tannic flavour profile. This is Ross on Wye's favourite cider from the best year cidermaking has seen in the last decade. It is not to be missed!
The Johnson family have made craft cider and perry at Broome Farm since the 1930's and have won a plethora of awards, including BBC Food and Farming Winner 2019.
