The Newt No. 2 Dabinett Cyder is an oak-aged, medium-dry, still, single-variety cider with a well-balanced, characteristic dabinett taste.
Made from locally sourced apples, this cider has been cold fermented and then matured in Seguin Moreau oak vats for six months. The result is a delicate, fresh oak aroma with hints of green apple, citrus and caramel, with the characteristic bitterness that the Dabinett apple is famous for on the palate.
The Newt in Somerset is a relatively new, exciting cidery based on the Hadspen House estate in Somerset. They pride themselves on making cyders from 100% apple juice, using slow cold fermentation to release the residual sweetness of this humble fruit.
The Newt No. 2 Dabinett Cyder won gold at the Taste of the West awards in 2020.
