The Purbeck Cider Company started after Joe returned from New Zealand. While working in the family ice cream business and tending to his own flock of sheep on the family farm, he wanted to follow his desire of cider and so in 2007 took a punt at making his own. After trying batches on an increasingly large number of vary thirsty friends, and planting his first small orchard on the farm, Joe took the plunge and launched his cider. It proved to be a big hit, however this demand outsripped the supply of apples from Purbeck's own orchards. Commited to the "home grown" ethos, Joe's research found sustainable orchards in Dorset, including a perry orchard, that with the right care could help support their ambitions.
With new ideas and an increasing range, Purbeck Cider have continued to tend and plant local orchards to meet the continuing growth in demand. Their premium ciders keep gathering awards, while their Forgotten Orchard Vintage Perry won a coveted 3* Great Taste Award in 2018.
